Another of the new wave of South African producers, husband and wife team Mick and Jeanine Craven are producing stunning terroir-driven wines from the Stellenbosch Region. Mick (an Australian) and Jeanine (a South African) met during vintage in California in 2007 and have travelled the winemaking world working for the likes of Dujac and Chapoutier and since finally settling in Jeanine’s native Stellenbosch. The Craven philosophy is that hard work in the vineyards makes light work in the cellars. All of the wines come from single vineyards, winemaking is very hands off with minimal additions (if any), with native ferments and neutral oak.
